I do not know about #2, but I think #1 happened while Lincoln was President. So I shall guess 1862.

I'm old, but not that old! I remember the motto being added to paper currency when I was in my teens (maybe mid-1950s? Before Kennedy's administration, though). For some reason, I associate it in the same span of years as Madalyn Murray O'Hair's protests. I associate the late-1950s through the 1970s as the era of craziness when it came to rejecting principles that our country had been founded upon. We're in era II, right now, IMO.

Now, when you say money, that can also mean coins; so, it may have been added to those during Lincoln's time.

I'm like Roger - no idea about #2.
