I think that's a good indication the Etta letter was a hoax, the kind that happens in notorious cases. Also, the text of the Etta letter is different than the supposed 2nd letter of Ella Starr. Abel didn't make the mistake, the author of the 1992 book must have misattributed it to "Etta". But that still doesn't explain where the second letter comes from and why Abel attributes it to Ella.
