Many thanks to Betty O. for sending this on Thanksgiving Day. Betty writes, "Here is a wonderful piano rendition of Over the River - written as "A New England Boy's Song of Thanksgiving" in 1844 by Lydia Childe (she wrote cook books like Sarah Josephia Hale, editor of Godey's Lady's book). Mrs. Hale was instrumental in pressing Mr. Lincoln and Wm. Seward for making Thanksgiving a national holiday."
