Perhaps a disclaimer on the Surratt house site for Poore's would be helpful, attached to the transcripts with a wording similar to what you posted, Laurie. Whenever a researcher/historian disagrees with court transcripts, a syntax solution could be provided by someone like Susan, to change wording in a way more aligned with their own narrative.
