You know Surratt and Atzerodt, Paine and Arnold O'Laughlin and Mudd, Spangler and Herold But do you recall The one who got away with it all Booth didn't die at Garrett's He escaped somehow And if you listen closely I'll tell you all about it now All of the federal soldiers Surrounded the barn that night But Booth was never in there Some one else was caught that night Otto Eisenschiml got it right So did Finis Bates Ray Neff tried to tell us too somehow Booth escaped Some say he went to Texas Others say to Mexico Some say he went to India I guess that we will never know The story sells like hotcakes It's really quite a mystery The legend of Booth's escaping Has become a cottage in-dus-try So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |
