In response to Roger's question on the Bloomington report, there is no mention of it in Gene Glendinning's excellent work, The Chicago and Alton Railroad: The Only Way, which I relied on heavily for my article.
The book, which was published around 2002 by Northern Illinois Univ. Press (that date is off memory, but it was around that time), has a great amount of detail, and describes Lincoln's support of what became the C & A. This is NOT saying that the report is incorrect. I'm just pointing out a source where it's not mentioned. |
