Fanny Seward did not think highly of Dr. Verdi, to say the least.
June 17, 1865 "This evening Eliza [family servant] told me something of Verdi's brutal treatment of her son's wife whom he attended at her first confinement - he behaved very ill - very ignorantly in treatment, & was so cruel as to curse her in all her pain. How detestable he grows!..." |
