RE: George Atzerodt's Little girl Edith
I am really looking for Edith Atzerodt, but I have to work with any lead I can get, thus Crangle gets the call.
Here's what I have, in case someone else may be searching Edith, too.
1. He is shown in 1873, living in D.C. single, as a watchman.
2. 1878 he is still in D.C. Single, a Watchman.
3.1878. Between 1878 and 1879, he married Nancy Newman, sometimes shown as "Nannie" or "Minnie". But she appears as the Widow of Nicholas B. Crangle.
4. 1879, Minnie Crangle is the Widow of Nicholas B.
5. 1880 Census. Nancy Crangle is living with her mother, in D.C. Her name is E. B. Newman, 56, born 1824 MD. Keeping House. She is shown as a "wife" by no Mr. Newman, is listed. There is also an 8 year old sister, Hager (Spelling ?). and Nancy Crangle, a tailoress, and a Widow. (Born 1849)
6. 1881 Nannie Crangle, widow, Living at the same address as 1879.

I haven't found one mention of Edith Atzerodt, or Edith Wheeler, or the Edith shown in the marriage license. I did find an Edith Robinson, maiden name for the Edith in the License, working as a Nurse in one of the Hospital in D.C. at an earlier date.

I have some more sources to search, but it takes time, and I am trying to cut that shorter. HELP!

OOPS! Corrections.
2 should be 1874
3 should be 1874 and 1878\
Sorry!
