RE: George Atzerodt's Little girl Edith
Good News and Bad News.
The good news is - that I have Edith Crangle's Death Certificate. Now for the rest----- It does not appear to be Edith Atzerodt. At least you can't tell from the Certificate. Here is what is on the certificate: DIED: Oct.19, 1898, age 35 (Born 1863 , Missouri ) White - Married - Housekeeper - Res, NYC 6 Years - Father John Robinson - Mother Mary Robinson Fa. & Mo Born USA Cause of Death: Acute Lobar Pneumonia. With That said - I am still looking. I have not backed this up with a husband's name. She arrived in NYC in1892. No record of her in City Directories. No record , yet, anywhere of a marriage. Could she have been adopted? One problem with the use of City Directories - they usually have only the head of the household. Occasionally they will include the Spouse. If the Husband has died, they will list the wife by name and add the Husband in parentheses. Nothing in the Census. These missing parts bother me. Why? |
