Doctors in the State Box
We know that at least three Doctors were in the State Box attending to President Lincoln after being shot by Booth…Dr. Leale, Dr. Taft, and Dr. King.

I have read Dr. Taft’s notes from the Century Magazine, (Feb 1893). He references his original notes that were written “…the day succeeding Mr. Lincoln’s death…” However, I have never seen a copy of his original handwritten notes from April 1865. Does anyone know if a copy, of his original notes, is available?

In addition, I have read a signed, true copy of Dr. Leale’s notes that were discovered, by researchers, in May 2012. The same researchers report that his original handwritten notes are lost. They also report that there are seven reports of his involvement. Five are from 1865, one is from 1867, and one is from 1909. His final report from 1865 is to his friend Dr. Dwight Dudley. This letter is discussed in another thread in this forum which I have seen and read. However, I have never seen his 1867 report to Representative Benjamin F. Butler. Again, I ask, is it available?

And finally, both Leale and Taft mention Dr. King in their notes. However, I have never seen a copy of Dr. King’s notes nor have I seen any reference to his report. Did he keep notes of the event? If he did, are they accessible?
