You appear to be right Rich. That explains why, at the Impeachment proceedings, the questioners didn't know where the field glass was and yet it appeared a month later at the Surratt trial. Baker gave his testimony on June 25th, which fits your timeline perfectly. So, sadly, it is not hidden away in the NPS collection. It is just lost to history. Unless there is a Townsend collection somewhere...
