RE: The thirst of knowledge on Lincoln from Senior Living Centers
Agreed!
One of the main things that attracted me to the Lincoln Assassination was the fact that I never knew the full story! All they told us in elementary school was that "JWB shot Lincoln in Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC and escaped to a farm in Caroline County, VA where he was shot in a tobacco barn." No mention of Herold, Mrs. Surratt, Powell, Atzerodt or anyone else! It wasn't until I was 22 years old and read Risvold's edited edition of Weichmann's book which had just hit the scene that I realized that a woman was involved - and much more! It's been the "ride of a lifetime" and more fun than a barrel of monkeys every since! Like Mr. Hall said, once it bites you, it'll never let go! "The Past is a foreign country...they do things differently there" - L. P. Hartley |
