I emailed Mark Lindsey fifteen years or so ago, when I had some silly question about some esoteric music subject, and he was nice enough to answer in a very friendly fashion. At that time, he said that he and his son were in a Raiders-like band. I also emailed with Roger McGuinn, of the Byrds, and he was also very cordial and informative. Derek Taylor was another person I briefly corresponded with; he was an early press agent for both the Beatles and the Byrds. He was also an authority on 1930s bluesman Robert Johnson, who was the subject of our discussions. I thought that Mark Lindsey was a heck of a vocalist and that Paul Revere and the Raiders was one of the finest rock/rhythm and blues bands ever. Their bass player, Phil Volk, aka Fang, had a huge influence on my bass playing. --Jim Please visit my blog: http://jimsworldandwelcometoit.com/ |
