I asked this same question in a round about way on another Lincoln site lol few years back . I got raked over the coals for saying I figured Booth would have been long gone possibly out of the country. Ok they were not my original thought, I read it by some author who said something to that effect. Thanks

No, not at all. I'm pretty sure his movements were pretty well accounted for between Ruggles and Bainbridge and the Gouldman's. Lucinda Holloway just really hated Jett and either made it up, or easily convinced herself that it was true.

I never heard the Jett telegraph story before. Seems a little far-fetched. Given the rural locale of the Garret farm, I wonder if there was even a telegraph point anywhere close?

I have never heard that story either. Wasn't there a rail line still in service somewhere near Bowling Green? Would there have been a telegraph service attached to it?

I have often wondered why Jett was snuggled all warm in his bed at Gouldman's while Bainbridge and Ruggles were still out and about earlier and in position to warn Booth and Herold, if necessary.
