Good luck, Scott (STS Lincolnite on the forum)!!

Thanks Roger!! I hope to finish up my materials this weekend, let it sit for a couple days then make some final edits before the talk. Had a great time when I presented at the Gen Lew Wallace Study and Museum in April and look forward to the same.

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement!! The talk went well and we had a packed house. I was wedged into a corner to speak due to the crowd and room set up but it was great. Lots of good questions too. I gave the talk in the same room that currently displays the original sketches that Lew Wallace drew of the conspirators during the trial. They are fantastic to see in person!

Scott: I spoke with Larry Paarlberg a number of years ago. They loaned the NPS Monocacy Battlefield Lew Wallace's frock coat. A visual inspection leads me to believe that it was the coat Gen. Wallace wore during the trial. When I spoke to Larry, he didn't seem to know when the coat was dated too. Maybe inquire about the coat? Thanks

Great, Scott! I bet it was wonderful to see those sketches - have they decided whether or not to do a poster/print of the large painting? I'd sure buy one!

Larry Paarlberg is a great guy to deal with. I, too have worked with him regarding photos in my updated version of Alias.... That sounds grand about the coat, Jim. I'd love to see that. Was Wallace a big guy? He appears to be large in his photos....

Not that big. The coat is displayed at the museum at the Monocacy battlefield in Frederick, Md. My understanding is that the NPS has it for an indefinite period of time. They stored the uniform and it resembles th.e uniform in the images of the trial judges. BTW, the colar is velvet.

It doesn't appear that Wallace was more than average size for the time. The coat was restored by the NPS in return for it being on loan for an extended indefinite period of time. It has a beautiful velvet collar that appears original.
