New Overlay Photos
Hello all,
This month I was able to do a little more photography work for the Inside The Walls project. Here are a couple of past and current overlays from the execution. Feel free to use them as a guide if you ever have a chance to take the Grant Hall tour. They aren't 100% accurate but they are pretty darn close. |

Oh, wow! These are absolutely terrific, John! I swear you never cease to amaze. These photos give an approximation as to the actual location of the gallows as to today. I love "Now and Then" photos - Thanks so much for sharing!

RE: New Overlay Photos
They have an interesting "ghostly" presence to them
So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: New Overlay Photos
Very interesting. Well done! I always wondered where the gallows was in relation to the tennis court. Thank you.

Many of the bricks were preserved from the demolition and re-purposed for other buildings on Ft.McNair and portions of the wall surrounding it. |

RE: New Overlay Photos
Can the public actually play tennis on the courts?

I'm pretty sure that it is reserved for personnel at Ft. McNair. The post has tight security, so I don't imagine they let the public use the courts.

But at least our government lets captured international terrorist use the same courts that American citizens get to use. So when is this "Old Enough To Know Better" supposed to kick in? |

RE: New Overlay Photos
This picture has always fascinated me. I have seen a couple of versions of what George's last words were. Can anyone clarify what they know them to be?
Thank you. |

RE: New Overlay Photos
Hi Dan. I have seen a few versions, too. One is, "Good-bye, gentlemen who is before me. May we all meet in the other world."

RE: New Overlay Photos
John,
I discovered this photograph of the site of the execution while visiting Lincoln Memorial Univeristy. Sadly it is undated. |
