Not to be a tease, but since I have to leave a few things undiscovered until the March conference: I have discovered what happened to the other pistol from the pair (it has, of course, a theatrical aspect). To be revealed on March 16...

This pistol is on display at Ripley's Believe It or Not in NYC. Not a match as to size and caliber but it does have "J. Wilkes Booth" engraved on it. 'derringer' is a noun referring to a very small, concealable handgun. Obviously comes from the original Deringer. 'Deringer' refers only to those pistols made by Henry Deringer. It's used as an adjective - "Deringer pocket pistol" |
