Palm Sunday, and it's SNOWING in Southern Maryland. It's just not right, lord, it's just not right. Must be another Yankee trick!

To paraphrase Lew Powell --

"If you try your blamed Yankee Tricks on me, Mother Nature - you'll know what to expect.....I'll move to Florida !!!!" Wink

We already have 3 inches on the ground here in Hanover, VA and it's expected to snow all night -- oh well if it does, I'm not going in to work tomorrow!! Vacation day for me! HA!

No "yankee trick" this time, ladies. Here is Northwest Jersey we're on tap for a good six inches on Monday. BTW, back in '42, Marylanders awoke to a Palm Sunday surprise of 10-30 inches of snow (March 28, 1942). NJ got socked, too.

LAURIE, You should thank us Yankee's not blame us for your good fortune. You may be lucky and have off work tomorrow. Looks like us peasants in New Jersey will have to go to work tomorrow. We have nothing here yet, rain or snow! ENJOY!Big Grin Best Gary P

I sprinkled some Yankee hoo-doo dust down there before I left last week....

It took 150 years but Yankee scientists finally worked up appropriate revenge for Burnside's Mud March of 1863. It's true the idiot Burnside ordered the marching but Virginia supplied the mud.

Thanks for the good thoughts that I might have off work, Gary, but no such luck. However, since I have been battling a coughing bug all week, I have no intentions of going out in this horrid stuff. I earned enough flex time during the conference.

BTW: Joseph, you have your hoo-doo dust, but Betty forgot to tell you what she sprinkled on those Moon Pies...

I have one very bewildered robin looking up at me through my kitchen window.

No Yankee trick-just Yankee ingenuity! Yes, we have learned to control the weather. Smile "Heavens to murgatroyd!" - who used to say that? Or was it "mergatroid?"

I think it was said by the cartoon character Snagglepuss

You are a learned man, sir! Exit stage left! or was it "right?"

I do remember Betty saying she wanted a recipe for Alice B. Toklas Moon Pies. Hmm . . .

Laurie: so how much snow did you get?

Hey Joe, are you sure you didn't accidentally dribble a little bit of your hoo-doo down here in South Jersey on your way back home? We had snow here all day yesterday, from 5 o'clock in the morning till long after dark! At least it was too warm to really accumulate to anything much more than a slushy mush.

RE: Drat...! - J. Beckert - 03-26-2013 07:48 AM

Barely a flake up here, Dawn. You folks again got the brunt of it. I think my bag of Yankee hoo doo dust fell out of my coat and is under the front seat of Laurie's car.

RE: Drat...! - Laurie Verge - 03-26-2013 08:58 AM

Joseph, did you let that evil dust escape in my car yet again? Now I'll have to pay extra for my next detailing.

Bill, the bulk of our snow came on Monday morning. My backyard looked like it had about 2-3 inches, but I was not about to go out and measure. The news was saying that Southern Maryland got 2-4 inches. North and west of us got dumped on as usual. In our area, most of it melted by evening. Today is bright and sunny, but cold. At least the wind is not blowing.
