Grave Alert - Laurie Verge - 02-21-2013 03:45 PM Someone just informed me today that FindAGrave has a listing that claims John Wilkes Booth escaped to Lee County, Mississippi, and lived out the rest of his life in seclusion with relatives. He is buried in Smith Cemetery in Guntown, Mississippi, under a marker placed there by a George Booth. OK, Jim and Rich, head to Guntown, Mississippi, with cameras ready... RE: Grave Alert - Rsmyth - 02-21-2013 04:44 PM Thanks Laurie. Jim, I will be by to pick you up in four hours. RE: Grave Alert - Laurie Verge - 02-21-2013 04:46 PM I'm ready to go too! I would love some Mississippi warmth right now. Of course, Wild Bill's Tucson is usually warm, but I hear they have three inches of snow today. RE: Grave Alert - LincolnMan - 02-21-2013 05:47 PM For a dead person, he sure got around. RE: Grave Alert - Jim Garrett - 02-21-2013 08:53 PM JWB misses his life on the road, first in the theatre, then in the carnival. RE: Grave Alert - LincolnMan - 02-21-2013 10:46 PM There's no business like show business! Another place JWB died was in Assam, India, on October 12, 1883. Has anyone here traveled there to photograph that gravestone? RE: Grave Alert - Jim Garrett - 02-22-2013 06:09 AM That must be it!!!! It has a headstone. I've just cut open an aubergine and it has the letters JWB in it? Is that a sign, do you think? I don't think it's a sign from JWB...........maybe from Junius Brutus? He was kinda into signs and the likes thereof. RE: Grave Alert - LincolnMan - 02-23-2013 05:38 AM So I suppose the gentleman in the grave must have claimed he was JWB? There is an interesting article as part of this link http://s13.invisionfree.com/Ms_Missing_and_UID/ar/t355.htm "Ms Community Believes Booth Buried There" Here the author, Lee Smith states, "He (Booth) was shot, captured and sent to a federal prison where he died on April 25, 1865" He also states earlier in his article "But, before we delve further into why the man who in cold blood shot President Abrahm Lincoln in 1985...." So much for proof reeding. RE: Grave Alert - RJNorton - 02-23-2013 08:43 AM We need to introduce Lee Smith to John Wally. Hopefully, Mr. Wally can help straighten Mr. Smith out regarding the facts. RE: Grave Alert - Jim Garrett - 02-23-2013 09:23 AM I don't know, I'm so confused. RE: Grave Alert - Rsmyth - 02-23-2013 12:51 PM So, there is no barn? |
