Hartranft Descendant and Article - BettyO - 02-08-2013 07:33 AM

An interesting article in the Reading PA, Reading Eagle, recounts the story of a woman who, doing genealogy work, found out that she is related to General John Hartranft and is giving a lecture on Hartranft and the Arsenal -

Mike Kauffman is also related to Hartranft, or so he told me years ago.

I hope I have my genealogy correct, but a great-granddaughter of Hartranft is a member of the Surratt Society. Al Gambone, now deceased, did a remarkable book on Hartranft about ten years ago. Interesting man.

It's always amazed me that the conspirators were treated relatively kindly whilst awaiting execution, apart from the hoods.

I have Mr. Gambone's book, Laurie -- didn't know that he had passed.... thanks!
