Lincoln journal - Liz Rosenthal - 01-05-2013 08:50 PM

I have a question: Are there any journals or magazines devoted to the subject of Abraham Lincoln besides the scholarly one published by the Abraham Lincoln Association? (I have this nagging feeling that the Abraham Lincoln Association is now called something else, but hopefully people here will know what I mean.... Blush )

I don't know how exhaustive this would be considered, but here is a listing of Lincoln-related periodicals. Plus, it is still called the Abraham Lincoln Association.

Thanks for the links. Some worked and some didn't; I guess that's the way of the internet!

Have you ever seen or read The Lincoln Herald? Is it a scholarly journal, or a little less formal? The Lincoln Memorial University/museum web site doesn't say much about it other than "please subscribe."

The Lincoln Herald is indeed a scholarly journal and has been around for a long time. It's one of the best in the field.

I sure agree. It is a terrific publication. Frank Williams' section on Lincolniana is an invaluable resource for Lincoln news, accomplishments, presentations, books, honors, announcements, etc. Tom Turner, of our forum, is the Editor-in-Chief. And Mike Burkhimer, also of our forum, is the Review Editor.

There is also a book titled The Many Faces of Lincoln: Selected Articles from the Lincoln Herald. Just a few of the authors whose articles are included are Otto Eisenschiml, James G. Randall, Ruth Painter Randall, Wayne C. Temple, Frederick Hill Meserve, and Benjamin P. Thomas.

Hi, Rob,

Before the Lincoln National Life Foundation closed its Lincoln Museum and dispersed its collections, it published LINCOLN LORE. I miss that publication; it was another good source for Lincoln material.

Indeed, Lincoln Lore was a wonderful publication - and Lincoln Herald is NOT to be missed.....

Question - is Mike Burkhimer the same as "Mike B." on this forum? I'm only asking because I'd like to drop him a line, but I don't want to send a message to the wrong Mike B.! Thanks.

Yes, he is one and the same!
