Assassination broadside up for auction - J. Beckert - 09-16-2021 04:32 PM https://historical.ha.com/itm/political/-booth-john-wilkes-100-000-reward-broadside-issued-by-the-us-war-department-april-20-1865/a/6240-43115.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 Interesting video at the bottom. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - Gene C - 09-16-2021 06:40 PM It may be a rare piece, but without the photo's of Booth, Herold and Surratt I wouldn't want it. Interesting video. Not being an expert on this, I would have guessed by the time this was being printed, Booth and Herod had been caught so the printing process was stopped before they would have added the photos. That, and it looks in too good of condition. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - RJNorton - 09-17-2021 03:44 AM I did not know they are only about 20 in existence. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - LincolnMan - 09-20-2021 05:57 AM I agree with you Gene- without the photos I wouldn’t want it anyway. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - J. Beckert - 03-14-2022 06:25 PM It sold for $275,000 RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - Gene C - 03-15-2022 05:47 AM Wow! Glad it was out of my price range. I have one of those reproduction wanted posters (with photos) you can buy at the souvenir shops I bought as a kid. It might bring $5 RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - Lincoln Wonk - 03-15-2022 07:20 PM (03-14-2022 06:25 PM)J. Beckert Wrote: It sold for $275,000Wow. Without photos too. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - Jim Garrett - 03-18-2022 09:05 AM The Heritage auction that included Blaine Houmes' collection was well received. My friend Curtis Linder (worked with me at Arlington) shared that Blaine's family were very pleased with the proceeds. JWB's walking stick pulled $65,000 which was less than expected. RE: Assassination broadside up for auction - LincolnMan - 04-03-2022 05:31 AM What an artifact! JWB’s walking stick. Can’t even imagine owning that. |
