Lincoln Knew in 1838 What 2021 Would Bring - David Lockmiller - 01-19-2021 10:43 AM

"Lincoln Knew in 1838 What 2021 Would Bring" is an opinion by Bret Stephens,
New York Times Opinion Columnist (Jan. 18, 2021).

Therein is a hyperlink to "The Perpetuation of Our Political Institutions" (Address by Abraham Lincoln before the Young Men's Lyceum of Springfield (January 27, 1838)) that was published by the Journal of the Abraham Lincoln Association (Volume 6, Issue 1, 1984, pp. 6-14).

Abraham Lincoln spoke on January, 27, 1838:

"By such examples, by instances of the perpetrators of such acts going unpunished, the lawless in spirit, are encouraged to become lawless in practice; and having been used to no restraint, but dread of punishment, they thus become, absolutely unrestrained."

We the People are going to have in the U.S. Senate a second impeachment hearing for Trump. What are the Republicans going to do this time?

"A mob, incited by the president of the United States, stormed the halls of Congress in an effort to prevent it from certifying the president’s electoral defeat. During the attack, the mob killed a police officer and went looking for members of Congress." (David Leonhardt – NY Times, The Morning -- on January 19, 2021.)
