The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War are very much involved in it. RE: 164th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s visit to Kalamazoo, Michigan - LincolnMan - 04-03-2022 06:28 AM Just an update on the statue situation. Fundraising is ongoing. The Kalamazoo Abraham Lincoln Institute has set a goal of $150,000 of which $141,000 has been raised. The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Michigan has embraced the project asking each Camp to donate a specific amount as well as whatever individuals may care to give. RE: 164th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s visit to Kalamazoo, Michigan - LincolnMan - 06-21-2022 10:05 AM The funds from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War camps are still being collected. Just thought I’d let everyone know. A new Lincoln statue was unveiled and there were excellent speeches given. It was a great Program. Sadly, within days, the statue was vandalized with red paint. That didn’t take long!
