My new appreciation for Booth’s broken bone - LincolnMan - 04-10-2019 05:41 AM

As many of you know, I fell on ice recently and broke my arm and hand in three places. I’m mending well. When I initially broke it I literally could not so much as lift a sheet of paper. Which made me think of Booth and his broken leg. That break must have been incredibly painful. And he didn’t have modern medicine. And although he doesn't get any sympathy for what he did (murder Lincoln), I do have a new appreciation for the physical pain he endured up to his death.

I had a similar incident happen to me Bill, and yes it is incredibly painful and difficult to do much of anything. I drove and did a few other things for a couple of days before finally saying enough of this and went to the doctor. I couldn't imagine living with that for 12 days.

In 2016 I broke my left fibula falling down some steps. The break was close to where Booth's was. This was painful, but I had it treated quickly. I did gain some sense of what Booth must have experienced. Ouch!

Not trying to make light of anyone's injuries, but
When I was about 4 or 5 years old, I had an accident where my horse stumbled and fell on my leg, about where Booth suffered his broken leg.
Fortunately I escaped serious injury.
Sigh.... I loved that horse Heart

Gosh, Gene, you're lucky. That could have turned out to be a nagging injury.

I know he had a crutch to use and was splinted. I don’t see how he was able to use the leg like he did. Alcohol? Determination? Facing capture?
