Who do we believe? - SSlater - 08-02-2018 04:12 PM

Of course I am asking that question in reference to events connected to the Assassination. - for example.
Ben Pitman who wrote the "official" record of the Trial of the Conspirators, tells us that various persons gave their testimony in Secret. (Richard R. Montgomery, was one.) Those secrets were withheld from the jury, until afterthe trial. Yet, that testimony was provided to the New York Newspapers, and published that day. That news was picked up by Canadian papers and published there.
How could this happen? I can supply one possibility. For one - it could have been Sanford Conover (and all his other names) who was said to be a Reporter for the New York Tribune. That's a possibility, but who would believe anything that he says? (He couldn't be honest long enough to give you his right name.)
You either believe him or you have nothing.

As Breaker Morant said about someone else , "That bloke couldnt lie straight in bed." (I think that he actually used a different word to 'bloke' ... started with a 'b' though.)

Does anyone know how or why Pitman broke his oath to secrecy in the trial and why he wasn't fired by Holt?
