Lincoln in Washington - Laurie Verge - 09-26-2012 01:46 PM

I know that we recently welcomed John O'Brien to this forum. I just want to add that he is the creator of a wonderful map/booklet entitled Lincoln in Washington, 1861-1865. We sell it in the Surratt gift shop, and it has been a very welcome addition.

Back in the late-70s or early-80s, we sold a poster size map of Mr. Lincoln's Washington that came with a small, descriptive booklet. It was done by a lady named Tee Loftin. Ms. Loftin left the D.C. area and stopped producing the map. Mr. O'Brien's work is far superior.

I sure agree, Laurie. I have a copy of John O'Brien's map, and I would recommend it to anyone seeking to journey through Civil War Washington (including the names of many modern day buildings and businesses which now reside on those sites). There is more information here.
