The only prize currently available is the ticket to the Justin Bieber concert which Eva (and I think Bill R., too) did not want. This unique treasure will now be mailed to you. Hopefully you will not react like Elvis' ex-girlfriend.

Thanks, I can put it in the frame with my Donnie Osmond ticket.

That is the worst, most terrifying depiction of President Lincoln I have ever seen in print or film. He looks like a vampire!

At an excavation archaeologists found the remains of meals served...bones of cows, pigs, chickens and turkeys, some still bearing the marks of a butcher's knife.

Where was this excavation?

RE: Assassination Trivia - Eva Elisabeth - 09-09-2014 07:47 AM

In the backyard of the Lincoln Home in Springfield (in a well that had been covered when renovating the house)?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 09-09-2014 08:07 AM

Excellent guess, Eva, but that is not what I am thinking of.

Hint #1: Also found during the excavation were:

fragments of ceramic dishes, jugs and vases
tiny wine goblets
perfume bottles and medicine jars
machine-cut nails
shoes
painted horsehair-covered plaster
mica sheets possibly used for window panes
children's ceramic marbles
broken pencil stubs
tobacco pipe bowls and stems
straight pins, needles and buttons
a lady's haircomb

My wife asked me to Go through my closet and get rid of things I do not use. This list is very similar.

RE: Assassination Trivia - Gene C - 09-09-2014 12:12 PM

Sounds like a general store, perhaps an excavation site in New Salem?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 09-09-2014 12:22 PM

Excellent try, Gene, but that's not it.

Hint #2: The excavation site is not in Illinois. It has been mentioned many times on this forum.

The Petersen boarding house in D.C.

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 09-09-2014 01:15 PM

Brilliant, Anita! That is correct! The excavation took place in 1986.

You win your choice of any single item found (of the 5,000 items recovered).

Thank you so much Roger. I am thrilled. After reading through the more than 5,000 artifacts I have selected the glass slide belonging to Henry and Julius Ulke.

"The archaeological evidence has revealed evidence of these boarders; most notably in the form of a microscope slide that was most likely owned by residents Henry and Julius Ulke , two photographers residing with the Petersens in the mid 1860s who were also amateur entomologists."

An unusual incident involving John Wilkes Booth happened at this hotel.

A. What is the hotel's name?
B. Where is it located?
C. What happened here?

Cook's Hotel in Columbus, Georgia where Booth was shot by his manager, Matt Canning. Now fork over the tickets to Fred Smith's Wisconsin Concrete Park.
