80 feet?

Close enough, Roger. The rope is 81 ft. long. Very nicely done.

Thank you, Dave. I was going by James Lamb's testimony where he says "not less than 80 feet." Was the exact length ever mentioned at the trial?

Detective Charles Rosch testified to retrieving it from Spangler's home and it was, "found to contain eighty-one feet". Apparently, "the twist was very carefully taken out" of it, too.

John Wilkes Booth performed at this theater. What is the theater's name?

The Arch St. Theater in Philadelphia. What did I win?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-05-2012 02:11 PM

You got it, Joe. Kudos.

You win a free soft drink at Mrs. Carter's place.

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-05-2012 03:13 PM

Mrs. Carter's four daughters helped out at their mother's Entertainment Center. Name all four girls.

If it's the "Mrs. Carter's place" I'm thinking of, Joe, get a shot of penicillin before entering.

RE: Assassination Trivia - Gene C - 12-05-2012 03:23 PM

I was thinking the same thing, but since this is a family site, I wasn't gong to go there.
(I wouldn't go there anyway) Angel

Trixie, Bubbles, Cinnamon and Prudence (she was the bookkeeper)
Or did you want their proprer names?

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-05-2012 04:28 PM

Hint #1: I am using Mr. James O. Hall's research regarding the four girls who were waitresses at Mrs. Carter's place. Two of the girls were Mattie and Molly. What were the names of the other two waitresses?

I'm not sure about Dr. Hall's research but according to the census records the Carter daughters were Martha, Molly, Sarah (or Sallie) and Agnes.

RE: Assassination Trivia - RJNorton - 12-06-2012 06:04 AM

Excellent, Dave. Kudos. I think Martha was often called Mattie.

A few years ago I noticed that Richard Chiarappa had included the waitresses' names in his musical entitled Lincoln & Booth: A Historical Musical. I had never seen the names in any book, so I wrote Mr. Chiarappa and asked his source. He said then when he was writing his musical Mr. Hall had sent him the girls' names. This would have been in the 1990's.

Like Joe, you win a soft drink at Mrs. Carter's café.

I may take some grief for this one, but it's the Holiday Season, and maybe folks will not be nasty.

What is the weight of this plaque?

18 pounds.

Good guess, Joe, but it's heavier than that.

P.S. My source is Art Loux.
