Staying on the theme of Edwin Booth: I received the Fall Issue of the Tudor Hall newsletter, "Booth History Spotlight," today and actually caught a tear in my eye when I read the last paragraphs of an excerpt from Edwina Booth Grossman's recollections of her father.

I have not studied Edwin except for basic information and did not realize that his final illness was of seven weeks' duration. In his final hours, a terrible storm raged outdoors, and as he breathed his last, all electricity went out. Wasn't this the man that was born during a meteor shower? Mother Nature adding a backdrop at both his birth and death?
