Newspaper Clipping - PaigeBooth - 10-18-2015 04:40 PM
Attached is a page from The Washington Herald dated November 5, 1911. I came across it this morning and thought it was interesting. Although there are several inaccuracies in the article above the photographs, I thought it worth sharing. Has anyone seen this before? It was new to me.

Yes-too small. When I enlarged the print it became blurry.

I could only read "Sole Survivor of Celebrated Booth Family," and that started me to question its validity. Edwin, Asia, and Junius, Jr. all had children still alive in 1911, and Asia had at least two sons in the theatrical world. Dave Taylor's BoothieBarn has some excellent photos. Would love to read more of this article.

Laurie-- yes, I agree with you, there were more Booth survivors than the article states. This article, like many printed in those days, from what I understand, contains mistakes. As you will see tomorrow once I get the article up larger, it even calls Junius Booth's sister Jane an "old maid" which we know is not true.
None-the-less, the article does contain some accurate facts, but I found the photos to be most interesting. The photo of Sydney Booth in this article is one I have never seen before.

Much easier to read and, despite the errors, pretty interesting. Poor Asia would probably prefer the middle name of Sydney that this reporter gave her. Her true middle name was Frigga (hope I spelled that correctly).
BTW: Junius the Elder did have a brother named Algernon Sydney Booth, who died as a young child. This was brought out years ago when Tony Blair was Prime Minister of England and his wife was said to be descended from Algernon Sydney Booth -- not unless it was an immaculate conception at a very early age. Does anyone remember if Mrs. Blair (or more likely the ill-informed press) ever rescinded that claim?
