A Report by Jacob Thompson - SSlater - 08-09-2015 10:47 PM

If anyone hasn't read "A Report of J. Thompson" posted in our "New York Crowd" post at Post #13 (Click on the highlighted https://archive/cihm_ 49664# page? n4/mode//up) It is the history of Jacob Thompson term of office in Canada, and one very important reading of all that Thompson accomplished and why it turned out as it did. It is difficult reading, but it can be enlarged. He wrote this in Dec.
1864. This report led to E. G. Lee being assigned to Montreal. I have seen references to this report, but never saw the report.
If you like the nitty-gritty, behind the scene, skull-doggery, of what was going on - it's here. I enjoyed it immensely.
Sadly, some of the text is obscured. I checked the "Original" and it is obscured , too.

Hi John. Please try the page here. For me, anyway, it's a little "easier on the eyes."

Slight correction. It's post #33.
Here is another link to the report. https://archive.org/stream/cihm_49664#page/n4/mode/1up
I found page 4 of the repot very interesting.

I don't know if by this time he's getting paranoid but " The bane and curse of carrying out anything in this country is the surveillance under which we act. Detectives or those ready to give information stand at every street corner. Two or three can not interchange ideas without a reporter" and

"The Presidential election has so demoralized the leaders of the order of the "Sons of Liberty" that a new organization under new leaders has become an absolute necessity"

Thanx, Roger. None of your page is obscured, and is easier to read.
