Brief History of 19th-Century Theater - L Verge - 06-28-2015 07:48 PM In searching for something else, I stumbled across this fairly short and easy to read history of 19th-century theater. I'll leave it to Tom Bogar to evaluate its accuracy, but it gave me some insight (I hope correctly) on a subject that I know very little about. http://homepage.smc.edu/martin_ben/TheaterHistory/nineteenth.htm RE: Brief History of 19th-Century Theater - Eva Elisabeth - 06-29-2015 07:50 AM Nice article, thanks for sharing, Laurie! RE: Brief History of 19th-Century Theater - Tom Bogar - 06-29-2015 02:03 PM I took a look at the board you cited, Laurie, and it looks like good, valid information that he's posted for his students--kind of a general overview of material I used to teach in my American Theatre History course. It all seems pretty accurate. I would also highly recommend theatrehistory.com: http://www.theatrehistory.com/american/ Tom RE: Brief History of 19th-Century Theater - L Verge - 06-29-2015 03:15 PM Thanks, Tom. I got a kick out of learning about "claques." |
