Booth's letter to the National Intelligencer (VIDEO) - asobbingfilm - 04-08-2015 02:10 PM Wilkes meets John Mathews the afternoon of April 14th and gives him a letter to give to the National Intelligencer Newspaper. Mathews burned the letter after the assassination but miraculously recalled its contents some sixteen years later. Mathews reconstruction however appears to mirror another writing of Booths (Nov 1864). I am not for certain that he did in fact name all of his co-conspirators in the original letter(I suppose only Mathews would know for sure). Mathews did testify to that effect on July 1 1867 before a House committee in the impeachment proceedings against Andrew Johnson. This video features Jason Mosher as the voice of Booth, John Largent is Mathews. Christina Roman and Will Barnet are the talking heads. Music is Little Rose is Gone by Jim Taylor. Hope you all like it. |
