Fascinating. No matter how many times I read an account of that night-and I've read literally hundreds-it is no less heart wrenching. I saw AL's skull fragments on display during a school field trip when I was about eight. I was mesmerized.

And I knew that the president collapsed in early February '65, but this is the first I've read that it was during an argument with Atty. General James Speed over pardons for desertions.

Poor man.Sad Thanks Roger!
