It appears the Smithsonian Magazine is going all out for the 150th. Not only are they publishing the special collector's edition magazine that contains the article by Dr. Steers, Michael Kauffman and James Swanson, but they are also devoting space in their regular March edition for stories relating to the assassination. Here's the cover for the current March edition of the magazine (sorry for the small size)

Here is a link to the table of contents, which contains four articles relating to the Lincoln assassination: http://www.smithsonianmag.com/issue/march-2015/

The articles (which all seem to be online, minus some of the illustrations) are:

The Blood Relics From the Lincoln Assassination by James Swanson

The Spiritualist Who Warned Lincoln Was Also Booth's Drinking Buddy by Terry Alford

The Closest Source We Have to Really Knowing John Wilkes Booth Is His Sister by Paige Williams

What the Newspapers Said when Lincoln was Killed by Harold Holzer

I need to pick up a copy of this magazine as well as the special edition one when it comes out.

Thanks, Dave! Same here! Laurie - is there anyway that the Surratt House could carry these for sale at the Conference?

I asked Joan Chaconas, our gift shop manager, to try to find out how to get some of the first one last week. Don't know if she's been successful.

I am a regular subscriber to the Smithsonian Magazine and received my copy of the special edition in the mail a couple of days ago.

I need to correct myself. I have received a copy of the March edition of the Smithsonian Magazine, of which Dave Taylor has posted a picture above.

We'll have a stack of both the regular magazine and the special edition available at the conference. Just got in a good supply of The Madman and The Assassin. Still awaiting Fortune's Fool, which has me nervous. Fred Hatch's book on the illegalities of the military court is now available.

Just received word today from Amazon that the long-awaited (two years, I believe) Montreal and the Assassination of Lincoln: JWB's Unexplained Visit to Montreal in 1864, is not going to be offered for sale after all.

I see on Amazon that scheduled release date for Fortune's Fool is April 14. I got the same e-mail about the book on JWB's visit to Montreal. Was hoping for some new information and looking forward to reading about that little corner of the Lincoln Assassination.

Just for fun, I purchased extra copies of these magazines when I went to the bookstore. I'm running a little contest on my blog for anyone who wants a free copy of them:

It contains articles by many of your favorite writers/historians covering before, during, and after. I will try to post both the cover and the contents page so you can see for yourself. I think it is an excellent job covering most all aspects of the assassination.

Wow. Thanks, Ed. I had just read one article about the 150th someone emailed, but this looks like an all-star lineup. I'm going to slog through the snow to Barnes & Noble to pick it up. I want to read your article.

Hello Dave, Very interesting just today I was given a copy of the March 2015 Smithsonian by a good friend. Can't wait to start reading the different stories. Enjoy
