Lincoln in Poetry - LincolnMan - 09-07-2014 08:29 AM Funny where one will find a mention of Lincoln. In reading a poem by the great Ogden Nash (no relation)- I came across the reference to him in the poem below. I'm sure there are many others! From 'The Common Cold' by Ogden Nash: A common cold, gadzooks, forsooth! Ah, yes. And Lincoln was jostled by Booth. Don Juan was a budding gallant, And Shakespeare's plays show signs of talent; The Artic winter is fairly coolish, And your diagnosis is fairly foolish. Oh what a derision history holds For the man who belittled the Cold of Colds! |
