If you are looking for a copy of John Wilkes Booth: Himself, there is a nice copy posted on eBay, in a dust jacket, with a fairly modest starting price of $245.00. The auction ends on February 20, 2014.

Wow! Steep price. However, you don't see too many of these floating around out there.

Never heard of it until now. Obviously, it's a collectors item. I'm sure it will sell- too rich for me!

Actually, this is a very reasonable price compared to others that I have seen. The book is definitely a collectors' item and has been for nearly twenty years. Only 1000 copies were printed, I believe, and it is still the best source available for identifying the various photos of Booth.

I may be going out on a limb here (because I stopped collecting the scarce Lincoln assassination books about ten years ago), but I believe that John Wilkes Booth, Himself is the first book to bring such high prices on the secondary market.

The seller has other interesting historical items up for bid- including a CDV of Booth.
