The Stokes County Arts Council in North Carolina presents Peter Holland as he explores and brings to life the events and characters of the Lincoln assassination in his new play, "Blood on the Moon" on Sat., Feb. 8, 2014 at the Walnut Cove Senior Center, 308 Brook St., Walnut Cove, NC.

The press release reads, "Why did John Wilkes Booth kill Lincoln? Who else was involved? What is the meaning of Lincoln's death? How did it transform America? Told with music and huimor, 'Blood on the Moon' illuminates one of the most compelling stories in American history. As it tells the story of his death, 'Blood on the Moon' celebrates the life of Lincoln and reflects on his humble greatness."

The $ 15 tix ($13 for seniors and students under 18) includes a 6 pm dinner and dessert, and the 7 performance.

Any relation to Ed Steer's book of the same name?

The notice indicated the story is told with music and humor. It is a desert theater. Wonder what they are serving? Sounds yummy Tongue

Oh Gene, please don't get Betty started on naming desserts after things related to the Lincoln assassination! Back in our "childhood" days, Betty, Joan Chaconas, Nancy Griffith, and I used to entertain ourselves for hours by thinking up recipes named for assassination things -- Booth Burgers, Herold Hash, etc. When we got tired of that, we would start in naming carnival rides after the "boys." Didn't take much to make us happy back then...

I received a nice email from the gentleman who wrote and performs in this play. He wanted to share the musical piece he wrote for the show:
