A Billy Brown Christmas Story - Rob Wick - 11-30-2013 08:38 PM

Billy Brown was a character created by Tarbell who was based on Roland W. "Rollo" Diller, a druggist in Springfield.

Thanks. I didn't realize "Miss Tarbucket" wrote fictional stories. Waiting on your book. So much to learn.

Tarbell did write four Billy Brown stories, all of which were based on real events but then fictionalized.

However, she didn't write this one. I did.

Rob, It's a story that rings so true to Lincoln's character. Great job with the dialog. Is this based on a real event?

Anita, not that I'm aware of, although there are aspects of it that are true. Diller did refer to Tarbell as "Tarbucket" and he was a Jackson Democrat. He also said what he did to Lincoln about his melancholy. But the parts of the boy and his father I made up. Thanks.

Bill,

It's new because I just wrote it a couple of days ago. Smile
