David O. Stewart is a wonderful speaker. He is entertaining, informative and has a wonderful delivery. But one would expect that of a defense lawyer. His interest in the assassination began with research for his book on the impeachment of Andrew Johnson and his interest in John Bingham. The result is his recently released novel on the assassination, The Lincoln Deception.

Supposedly Bingham, on his deathbed, claimed that Mary Surratt had confessed to him while incarcerated that there were implications involved which could "destroy the Union" (according to Stewart) - seems I had heard of this before.....don't know the validity of the claim.

Bingham died in 1902, never divulged this confession and carried Mary's secret to his grave. Stewart therefore thought that he'd write a novel around this purported "Secret" and invent his own version of what Mary might have told Bingham -

Betty, Jerry Madonna also covers this topic in his book. If true, I think it's a fascinating possibility. The doctor who allegedly heard Bingham say this (re: Mary Surratt's secret) was named John S. Campbell.

Most all of these lectures are recorded and put online. Mr. Stewart's talk should also be online shortly - both video and audio -

No problem, Gene.

These lectures are great -

I like the 1811 Richmond Theatre Fire and of course, Mr. David Keehn's lecture on the Knights of the Golden Circle - I'm currently reading the book -
