RE: Who is this person? - AussieMick - 01-21-2018 06:27 AM Ninian and Elizabeth Edwards? RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-21-2018 06:30 AM Good guess, Michael, but it's not them. RE: Who is this person? - Susan Higginbotham - 01-21-2018 08:55 AM Simeon Francis and his wife? RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-21-2018 09:10 AM Good guess, Susan, but it's not them. RE: Who is this person? - L Verge - 01-21-2018 12:44 PM I recently commented about the Lincolns being married by an Episcopal priest - even though Mary was Presbyterian - and the collar of the man resembles early photos that I have seen of such priests, so I am going to ask if it is of Rev. and Mrs. Dresser. RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-21-2018 01:12 PM Excellent, Laurie! Yes, it is Reverend Charles Dresser and his wife Louisa W. Dresser. Reverend Dresser married the Lincolns in 1842. Then in 1844 the Lincolns bought their Springfield home from the Dressers. RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-22-2018 05:07 AM Who are the four people in this image? RE: Who is this person? - Gene C - 01-22-2018 06:32 AM I know, but I'll let some one else try. The youngest person in the photo is William. RE: Who is this person? - Rogerm - 01-22-2018 09:05 AM Is the man on the far left a son of Lincoln's Secretary of State Seward? RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-22-2018 09:36 AM Roger, very good - you are correct. So are you, Gene. We need someone to give full names to all 4 of the folks pictured. RE: Who is this person? - L Verge - 01-22-2018 10:10 AM The lady is wife, Frances Adeline; youngest is William (as RogerM said); the oldest is the one we usually don't hear about - Augustus; and the other is Frederick. RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 01-22-2018 10:12 AM Wonderful, Laurie! Laurie, Roger, and Gene --> you are all winners. Kudos to all. RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 02-15-2018 04:53 AM Abraham Lincoln never met this man. However, his name is mentioned in a small minority of Lincoln books. Who is he? RE: Who is this person? - Steve - 02-15-2018 11:19 AM Robert Todd Lincoln Beckwith RE: Who is this person? - RJNorton - 02-15-2018 11:56 AM Nice try, Steve, but it's not him. Hint #1: This is a little like the questions Michael sometimes asks in that it is a "connection" question. There is a "connection" between this man's name and a very small number of writers who mention the man's name for a specific reason in their Lincoln books/articles. |
