Is there any record that Lewis Powell did a recon look at the escape route before the assassination? If not is that the reason it is speculated that he was on his way to Baltimore?

Betty O will have the best answer for this, but I don't remember any mention of Powell surveying the Southern Maryland area. I believe that Betty will tell you that the best answer to why Powell headed for Baltimore was his training under Mosby where the "culprits" did their thing and then skedaddled in various directions AND his love interest (Miss Branson) was in Baltimore, and her family was sympathetic to The Cause.
