RE: History Channel - Booth's Pistol - L Verge - 09-17-2014 06:37 PM I noticed you carried the Ford's story about the 1930s curator holding Booth's derringer on BoothieBarn today. One of our Boothie gang held the pistol (in his white gloved hands) this past week. Terry Alford was working with a film crew at the theatre and the derringer was brought out of its case for the shooting (of a different sort), and Terry was allowed to hold it. His hands and the pistol have their own selfie. RE: History Channel - Booth's Pistol - Jim Garrett - 09-18-2014 06:35 AM Good for Terry. The deringer is one of the most valuable artifacts in the history of our nation. For most of it's history, it was handled much more casually. Now, it is treated with the respect it's due. Just a handfull of people have handled it in the last 50 years. RE: History Channel - Booth's Pistol - STS Lincolnite - 09-18-2014 07:45 AM Dave: Keep up the fight! Your work along with the work of others will no doubt someday set the record straight in the public's eye on both the Clara Harris and Booth knife issue. And probably many other issues in the future! Laurie: Can you elaborate on the project Terry was working on when he was able to hold the deringer? What a wonderful opportunity for him and has certainly been earned with his many years of work on Booth's biography. RE: History Channel - Booth's Pistol - L Verge - 09-18-2014 04:38 PM I wish I could tell you more about what Terry was working on with a film crew. Those of you who know Terry, however, know that he keeps his work very close to the chest (probably from being burned in the past by people usurping his work). I do know that we have been contacted at Surratt House by a film company that is working on a Smithsonian project, so his interview may be connected with that. I think we are all going to be in for a treat and some great information when his book, Fortune's Fool, debuts this fall or early-2015. RE: History Channel - Booth's Pistol - Wesley Harris - 09-18-2014 09:10 PM I'll have a number of misadventures of the Booth Deringer pistol while in government custody in my forthcoming book. Some day, he says hopefully.
