RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 07-19-2014 06:22 PM Too late! I just wanted to ask: "Who is this lady?": [attachment=776] ...but Roger was much faster (see post #153)! I "came across her" when reading in a book that during the Lincoln-Douglas debates Douglas "was accompanied by his beautiful wife". I was curious as for the beauty of this lady, and found this nice site: http://civilwarwomenblog.com/adele-douglas/ PS: IMO Mary wasn't any less beautiful: [attachment=777] RE: Who is this lady? - RJNorton - 09-18-2014 08:53 AM Who is this? RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 09-18-2014 01:16 PM That's one Mrs. Herndon, I'm quite sure the first, Mary, who was considered as one of the beauties of her time, and I believe a relative sketched that. RE: Who is this lady? - RJNorton - 09-18-2014 02:59 PM Superb, Eva! That is a sketch of the second Mrs. Herndon - Anna Miles Herndon. I have never seen an image of the first wife - Mary Maxcy Herndon. And apparently the only image of the second wife is this sketch. Source of sketch - the page opposite p. 258 in Donald's book on Herndon. Eva, you win a 30 minute séance with a medium (Nettie Colburn) who will conjure up the spirit of William Herndon. Through the medium you will be able to question Herndon on any topics of your choice for a full half hour. RE: Who is this lady? - L Verge - 09-18-2014 07:23 PM Eva, Please question Billy Herndon for only 29 minutes. Use the remaining one minute to punch him in the nose for me and Mrs. Lincoln! RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 09-19-2014 01:38 AM With kind regards... RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 11-01-2014 03:12 AM I'll give this lady a try - who is she? [attachment=1092] RE: Who is this lady? - RJNorton - 11-01-2014 04:00 AM I think I have seen that photo before somewhere and think it might be Lucy Hale when she was older. RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 11-01-2014 06:15 AM Excellent, Roger! Although I was not successful in submitting last Saturday's prize in time, I'll try again - you win my best wishes for your favorite's victory this "sports" weekend. RE: Who is this lady? - RJNorton - 11-01-2014 06:53 AM Thank you, Eva. The Chicago Bears have a bye this weekend, so at least I do not have to suffer through another embarrassing defeat. RE: Who is this lady? - PaigeBooth - 01-09-2015 11:34 AM Hi, Eva, this woman looks Mary Lincoln's half sister, Emily Todd Helm.? RE: Who is this lady? - Gene C - 01-09-2015 11:45 AM I agree with Paige RE: Who is this lady? - Eva Elisabeth - 01-09-2015 01:26 PM An outstanding guess, Roger, but kudos to Paige and Gene - the lady is Emily T.Helm: [attachment=1346] |
