Booth's boot hoax - Dave Taylor - 04-19-2013 04:37 PM I sent Carolyn of the Spirits of Tudor Hall Facebook page an email this morning regarding this picture of Booth's boot but I don't remember the details. Can someone remind me of the story behind this fake boot? RE: Booth's boot hoax - LincolnMan - 04-19-2013 07:46 PM Even a "fake Booth boot story?" Never ceases to amaze... RE: Booth's boot hoax - Hess1865 - 04-19-2013 10:29 PM I'm waiting for the fake diary.... RE: Booth's boot hoax - RJNorton - 04-20-2013 04:22 AM I have never purchased anything on e-Bay, and I do not really understand how it works from total lack of personal experience. I looked up this CDV of the boot, and on this page it says the sale is over because the item is no longer available. However, on this page it appears the item is still for sale. So is the CDV still for sale or not? RE: Booth's boot hoax - Dave Taylor - 04-20-2013 08:55 AM I believe the one auction ended due to no bids as the seller relisted it. Well I have a vague memory that we have discussed this boot before but I couldn't find the conversation. It's clearly not Booth's boot. It does not even look similar to the real boot found at Dr. Mudd's which is now at Ford's Theatre. From my vague memory and the back stamp on the CDV, the boot was in a side show of sorts. I've seen a few of these photos up for sale over the years but I think the Pawn Stars guy is crazy to think he can get $895 for it RE: Booth's boot hoax - J. Beckert - 04-20-2013 09:00 AM I received an e-mail regarding this boot a while ago, but I don't remember from who. Someone in the chain said it wasn't the only fake touted as Booth's boot. There were several others. RE: Booth's boot hoax - Jim Garrett - 04-20-2013 08:03 PM I don't remember the story behind that boot, but that "Booth Boot" was around at the turn of the century. Hey, maybe the boot belonged to David E. George! Hey, maybe the boot belonged to David E. George! Jim, I'm fairly certain that boot belonged to Nancy Sinatra. --Jim RE: Booth's boot hoax - RJNorton - 04-21-2013 03:52 AM (04-21-2013 12:00 AM)Jim Page Wrote: Jim, I'm fairly certain that boot belonged to Nancy Sinatra. Even with (my soon to be extracted) cataracts I am not convinced, Jim. Please take another look. NEW LYRICS... "Booth's boots were made for stalking..." RE: Booth's boot hoax - Jim Page - 04-21-2013 10:00 AM You all maybe right, I guess, but maybe there's a strange Nancy Sinatra connection to the assassination that I'm the first to discover. Ms Sinatra did associate with a Thomas Jones character, though it may be a different one than the one who hid Booth for a while. --Jim RE: Booth's boot hoax - LincolnMan - 04-21-2013 12:46 PM Jim: who was the "Thomas Jones character" Nancy associated with? There actually is one of those "degrees of separation" things between her and Lincoln. Nancy Sinatra knew and starred with Elvis Presley. Elvis Presley and Abraham Lincoln share an ancestral link. RE: Booth's boot hoax - Jim Page - 04-21-2013 02:35 PM Hey, Bill-- I was thinking of the singer Tom Jones! --Jim |
